Carrie was first introduced on-screen by Brian De Palma in 1976. The film is an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel (of the same title) and tells the story of a sheltered high school girl who through pent-up rage, develops telekinetic powers.
Carrie is often listed as one of the best horror films of all time. Despite having seen the film numerous times, I can’t claim to have particularly enjoyed it.
Going by the trailer alone, this latest adaptation of Carrie (by Kimberley Peirce) appears to be a film attempting to recreate Brian De Palma’s classic horror film. This begs the question ‘why remake it at all?’.
I suspect the 1976 version will be superior to this in every respect.
Carrie (2013) is directed by Kimberlet Peirce and starrs Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore and Judy Greer.
