Help Me Build A Competitive Eldar Army List

Help Me Build A Competitive Eldar Army List

As mentioned in my previous article, I’m going to take an Elder army to Throne of Skulls in March. This is a 1500 point Warhammer 40k tournament hosted by Games Workshop in Nottingham… and I need some help from our readers!

I’ve always been a fluff player, but in the last few months I have found this harder and harder to pull off – It’s ok when playing against friends, but at a tournament you get wiped out after a couple of turns. I want to build a competitive Eldar army using my existing models and a spending budget of £50.00.

I know it will never be a top-tier army, but I do want to bring a competitive edge to my games in the tournament. Yes, I could blow it with terrible deployment or a couple of bad decisions, but when they look over my army list,  I want my opponents to pause for thought. I want to make this army to be hard to defeat.

Below is a list of my existing models including which units I intend to use, but as mentioned earlier, I need your help in designing a competitive Eldar Army List:

ELDAR HQ CHOICES

AVATAR

I’m thinking of talking the Avatar as my HQ choice as he has 12” Fearless Bubble. I intend to use him as protection for a couple of 20 man Guardian Squads that will sit on objectives. While the Avatar cannot join the Guardian Squads, being near them should be more than sufficient.

x2 ELDAR WARLOCKS

I like the idea of adding in two Eldar Warlocks and attaching them to the 20 man Guardian Squads. This will add a wee bit of physchic defence.

ELDAR TROOP CHOICES

x2 20 MAN GUARDIAN SQUADS

When combined with the sudo rending rule for Shuriken Catapults, a 20 man Guardian Squad will be a hard blob to shift from the centre of the table. As mentioned above, an Eldar Warlock will be attached to both squads with an Avatar helping to protect them.

x2 WAVE SERPENTS WITH DIRE AVENGER SQUADS

Two Wave Serpents with Dire Avenger Squads. I still haven’t decided if I should use two ten man or two five man squads. However, I want to play my Warp Spiders with one of my five man squads which will form the core of my Eldar army.
